HAWKER

A large portion of the developing world's informal economic sector is comprised of street vendors. The allure of the informal economic sector for these hawkers is predominantly financial. The evasion of government taxation equates to higher daily take-home earnings and a quicker route out of poverty.

The product storage systems, transportation tools, food prep equipment, and lighting fixtures these micro-entrepreneurs use are often repurposed for their specific needs, rather than designed for them.

These vulnerable, often self-employed workers need products that integrate into their daily lives and help them solve the challenges they face in their environments. Organizations playing in this space must acknowledge that these vendors' are overtly repurposing generic products and fabricating new tools that better solve their problems.
